About Best Thermal Drone
Best Thermal Drone is an independent site that compares thermal drones for US buyers using manufacturer spec sheets, and says plainly when a maker doesn’t publish a number.
What we do
We read every manufacturer spec page for the drones we cover, record each value with a link to where it came from, and mark anything found only in a seller listing as “not confirmed”. We track US availability, which changed sharply after the FCC added DJI and Autel to its Covered List in December 2025, and we rank drones by use: deer recovery, hunting, search and rescue, inspection.
What we don’t claim
- We don’t claim to have lab-tested these drones. Spec scores are calculated from published specs and are labelled that way.
- Where the site owner has hands-on experience with a drone, the review says so in an “Owner’s take” section. So far that covers three drones the owner bought and flies: the DJI Matrice 4TD (solar and infrastructure inspection), the Autel EVO II Dual 640T V3 and the Autel EVO Max 4T V2 (still early days); plus the DJI Matrice 4T from a hands-on demonstration. Other reviews are based on specs and published sources.
- We don’t use stock photos or AI images of drones. Product images are clearly labelled illustrations.
- We don’t show prices or Amazon star ratings; they change too often to be accurate on a static page.
How we make money
Some links to Amazon are affiliate links, which pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. Manufacturers can’t pay for placement. Details: affiliate disclosure, the thermal drone FAQ and how we rank.
